Washington, DC once again landed in the top-five of "Orkin's Top 50 Rattiest City's List," which the pest control company puts out annually (and has been led by front-running Chicago for nine straight years).

Each year, Orkin's evaluates "the number of new rodent services showcasing the demand and also indicates the efforts that residents and businesses of the top cities have taken to treat rodent issues."

This year, DC landed fourth on the list, behind only Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York, which dropped from second to third..

In the DMV region, Baltimore also cracked the top 10, landing as the seventh "rattiest city."

“Rodents multiply swiftly and when an infestation is left unattended, they can cause extensive damage to homes and yards,” Ben Hottel, an Orkin entomologist stated.

“Rats are capable of squeezing into spaces through holes as small as a quarter, which makes it especially important to seal cracks from the outside.”

Other East Coast cities on the list include Philadelphia, Boston, Pittsburgh, Miami, and Albany-Troy.

The complete list (and tips to avoid adding to the issue) can be found here.
